MY STORY:

In 2007, disillusioned at university in London, knowing I was on the wrong course but feeling stuck, I came across something called life coaching. I checked it out, got excited when it sounded perfect for me, enrolled onto a course and then quit when I (or rather, my Inner Critic) decided I was too young to be a coach - who would listen to me?

Cue several years working in jobs I found boring, aside from a role with a welfare to work company which I loved as it meant working one to one with unemployed clients and coaching and advising them to support them into new roles. I was later made redundant from this role.

I’d left behind ideas of becoming a coach until, in a new leadership role, I was feeling overstretched, stressed, dealing with a case of Imposter Syndrome and determined not to quit. My leadership coach was a Co-Active coach and gave me the space and insights to work out what was going on beneath the surface. As a result, my confidence in my role grew significantly, as did my ability to handle self-doubt and to set boundaries. This was game-changing for me and it reignited my passion for coaching others.

I later trained with the Co-Active Training Institute, one of the world’s oldest & most respected coaching schools and gained my Certified Professional Co-Active Coach credential. I also gained my ACC with the International coaching Federation (ICF) of which I’m a member.

Today I work with a wide range of clients here in the UK, Europe and the US. Recent clients include BAME British television industry professionals and the British civil service. I have a track record of supporting my clients to overcome self-doubt, feel more confident, recognise their value and elevate their presence, often in environments where they don’t feel they can bring more of their full selves to work.

As a third-generation West Indian black woman, born and raised in the UK, from a working class background, I know what it is to navigate traditionally white spaces and the challenges facing organisations’ talent from black and other ‘minority’ ethnic backgrounds around unconscious bias & feeling unable to make their voices heard.

My expertise lies in both the profit and non-profit sectors where I supported hundreds of individuals into employment at all levels, later successfully managing multiple government funded contracts. My leadership and management experience extends to the supported accommodation sector where I successfully led cross-functioning teams across the West Midlands, as well as business development in the Nottingham area. Since 2018, I have been a board member of a women’s refuge in the West Midlands, Gilgal, where I share her expertise in people development, contract management and governance.

I currently live in Nottingham, UK with my husband, our funny and very determined toddler and our dog. As freedom is one of my core values, I love the fact that I get to work with clients as far away as the US from my home office, where I’m present with my family and never miss an Amazon delivery!

I BELIEVE:

We each exist to grow, fulfill the unique assignments with which we are born & to love & BE loved.

In living life fully which means being present, taking chances, being honest with self and others, operating from our values and remembering that life will unfold and surprise us at any moment.

If we were all a bit more honest about who we are & the things we find difficult, we’d all be better off.

We can be and achieve more than we think possible.

We have the capacity and power to create the experiences we want through clarity of thought, being intentional in the perspectives we adopt, dealing with the things that derail us and perseverance. A little faith as small as a mustard seed helps ;)

I'M NOT ABOUT:

Small talk, gossip, ignoring the obvious, a false sense of entitlement, snobbery & the stifling, commonly accepted version of professionalism in the workplace.

YOU CAN FIND ME:

Having deep conversations, singing & generally being my own hype man in my car, being with my family & loved ones, marvelling at my one year old’s latest milestones, ordering too many takeaways & actively working on myself.
